Paper Tape

Paper tape, up to 1 inch wide. May be rolled or fan-folded, oiled (for mechanical readers, often yellow, pink or light green) or unoiled (for photoelectic readers, typically black or gray.) Made of mylar instead of paper for heavy use as for CNC machinery. Bits are indicated by 0.05 inch holes on 0.1 inch centers, punched (all the way or, for printing teletypes, part way around) for 1 and unpunched for 0. 1-inch tape has 9 longitudinal channels, 8 for data and one for 0.025 inch feed holes. The feed holes are in the 4th channel. Tapes typically have 5 to 8 data channels.
